Social Wellness and Children's Health Issues: Dr. Mani's Annual 24-hr Heart Kids Tweetathon/Mini-Blogathon
Hi again,
Dr. Mani, a favourite fellow Warrior Forum mega-star, and fellow Commonwealth citizen from India, is at it again.
Every year, year in and year out, he runs a 24-hour marathon internet event where he keeps posting all kinds of information about his favourite pet cause. The cause? The Heart Kids project that provide life saving operations for poor children who have heart defects.
This is life and death heart surgery. Their parents can't afford the cost of this expensive surgery for their children.
This year, Dr. Mani's event has taken the form of a Heart Kids Tweetathon. This is different because usually it's a Heart Kids Blogathon.
Here's what happened: He woke up one morning hearing a bird twittering away. By the end of that day, having heard about the popular Twitter social networking site, Dr. Mani was a registered Twitterer.
Today, Dr. Mani's Heart Kids Tweetathon is 2/3rd finished. Meaning that he has been twittering at regular 1/2 hour intervals for over the past 15 hours and 30 minutes. The target needed to provide heart defect operations for 12 children is $36,000. $3,980 has been raised so far.
